Mobile Broadband
Mobile broadband devices such as "aircards" for laptop computers combine wireless functionality with broadband connection speeds. Aircards allow the user to wirelessly connect directly to cellular towers, as a cell phone would. Download speeds are drastically increasing as carriers continue to build out their mobile broadband infrastructure. Sprint/Nextel boasts up to a 1.4Mbps download speed with an EVDO RevA card (newer aircard devices capable, some metro areas) and a 700kbps download speed with a EVDO Rev0 card (most aircard devices capable, all areas with cellular coverage).
The demand for workforce mobility has created a wide range of users including:
- Sales & Service Teams
- Public Safety
- Professional Services
- Construction

In addition, mobile broadband routers are now available. Using a single EVDO Aircard with a mobile broadband router can create a WiFi hotspot, enabling multiple users Internet access without each individual having the aircard hardware.
Great for:
- Incident response
- Mobile construction crews
- Mobile sales & service groups
