Last Day for Byrne JAG Grant Public Notification is April 18th

In order to submit the Byrne JAG local award application by the deadline of May 18, 2009, applicants must provide an opportunity for the public to comment on their Recovery JAG plan 30 days prior to submission. That makes April 18th the last day for public notification which may include website and newspaper postings, city council, and county board hearings open to the public. Applicants must also make the grant application available for review by the governing body 30 days prior to submission.

When President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, it included almost $2 Billion in additional funding for resources for State and Local law enforcement. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant (JAG) is an annual grant and something most agencies are already taking advantage of. However, this year, the Byrne JAG program is a one-time infusion of stimulus funds that local law enforcement can use to support a wide range of programs.

Bar Code Evidence Tracking Saves Time, Improves Record Keeping

A Southern Oregon police department has implemented a bar-code evidence tracking system with the help of Day Wireless Systems.

The system uses the Motorola MC5590 handheld computer/scanner with evidence tracking software, along with a Zebra printer, and Motorola wireless access points. The system uses bar code labeling and the inventory software to improve efficiency and adhere to chain of custody standards. Previously, items were logged in with handwritten labels, which was a time consuming and tedious process.

Day Wireless has the ability to help with any or all parts of your wireless deployment, from devices, to software, to wireless infrastructure. Call us today!

Firecom Introduces the First Wireless Headset for the Fire and Rescue Industry

No wires, no plugs, just crystal clear, mission-critical communication with Firecom’s new wireless headset and base station. First responders are now able to connect to the in-cab intercom system and vehicle radios with critical, on-scene communication using the wireless headset. The headset is ideal for command vehicles, on-scene first responders and ambulance attendants.

The wireless headset has two base station configurations. The single headset base station uses one radio transmit headset. The multiple headset base station works with up to four non-radio transmit headsets. The system allows up to 40 wireless headsets to work with any combination of base stations in close proximity to each other.
